The noble thatched Frisian house on a 22,500 m² park-like property in 25813 Husum-Halebüll, Ingwer-Paulsen Weg 1
The House
A well-known painter and graphic artist from North Frisia commissioned a residence in 1913/14 in Halebüll, on the geest edge of the Husum Bay. The design of the house is attributed to the Kiel architect Ernst Prinz, while the construction was carried out by the Hamburg architect Saxen.
The residential and studio house follows, in both its construction and detailed design, the architectural style of Modernism, which was first described in 1904 and flourished until 1945.
The red brick walls, the deeply overhanging thatched roof, a pointed gable above the entrance door crowned by a depressed arch, and intricately arranged, scattered windows are typical design motifs of North Frisian architectural history, into which a spacious studio wing with a north-facing window element has been incorporated.
The interior of the house features alcove-inspired built-in cabinets in the living room, sandstone slabs in the entrance hall, and Dutch tiles in the fireplace area, all reflecting the distinctive signature of both the architect and the artist.
The residential building offers a living area of approximately 210 m², plus additional usable spaces in the attic, basement, and auxiliary building.
Taken as a whole, the property is extraordinary due to the size of the plot, the impressive approximately 120 m long driveway leading to the thatched house, the architecture, and its almost isolated location in the midst of the Husum district of Halebüll.
Please note: the house requires renovation.
The Property
The roughly rectangular property covers a total area of 22,534 m² and is one of the most representative single-family house plots in Halebüll. On average, it is about 155 m wide and approximately 145 m deep.
The former dune area slopes gently from east to west. It is bordered by quiet residential streets to the east and south and is about 300 meters from the old bathing jetty in Halebüll. An appraisal in 2018 estimated the value of the 22,500 m² portion of the property at approximately €510,000
(3,500 m² designated as building land at €120/m² and 19,000 m² as forest at €4.60/m²).
